HAD THESE SMALL POCKET SIZED CALCULATORS BEFORE

I’ve found Casio to be sturdy and reliable. Had a few of this brand, and did and will order again. They are 2.5″ x 4.4″, the right size for a purse or pocket.

    Really Good Basic Calculator

Casio makes good calculators. This one has an off button instead of the time out most calculators have. That makes it perfect for my use where I don’t want it to turn off by itself.

Spend more and get the angled display

got this for the exam and it works great for the price, but the display is practically unreadable if operated on the flat surface. You need to hold it in your hand so that you can read the display. If you are going to use it every day, Spend a little more and get the angled display.

Just right for a pocket calculator

This has a really big screen, so it’s easy to read. It’s the simple version, so the buttons are bigger without the necessity for all of the function keys. Great for the pocket.

    Just Like My Old One!

I was disappointed when my ancient Casio solar powered calculator lost its digital read out. I could barely make out the digits holding it under bright lamp! This summer’s humidity did it! I had been having a hard time with many things due to 75-85% humidity daily! So, of course I turned to Amazon to order another calculator. I was over joyed to see this one is just like the 20 year old one! Plus this one comes with a plastic case that closes, so hopefully will keep humidity out? You can’t always get what you want, but if you try Amazon first, you just might find you get exactly what you need and a good deal!

    Good little calculator

I was afraid this calculator might be too small, but it’s really just right – the keys are big enough to use and see, and I do like that it’s tiny and I can stash it anywhere. It also has a little optional folding cover to protect it from being scratched or turned on by accident while in transit in a bag or whatever. Great price, too. I’m quite pleased with this purchase.

Calculator Arrived with a Defective Display…

I purchased the $3 pocket size version of this calculator and it has worked well for me.So, when I had some situations where I wanted a slightly larger calculator, I ordered this wallet size one in to give it a try.The calculator arrived packaged in an Amazon bubble pack bag, in it’s original, unopened, box. It also contained a folding vinyl case that could be attached with a two sided tape strip that was already applied to the case.Everything looked great, the calculator felt good in my hand and I was ready to take it to work.Unfortunately, when I powered the calculator up, the 0 looked like an 8 and was dim in some areas of the display.Despite turning the calculator on/off multiple times the 0 continued to look like an 8 and was still dim in some areas of the display. When I typed numbers in. they were partially displayed as well. When I tried calculations, it was more of the same. There was clearly an issue with the calculator despite no sign of damage to the packaging or the unit.As a Prime member, I was going to request a return or exchange. But, here’s where I learned a lesson. When I clicked the return button, I found that this calculator was not returnable.Instead of the usual return or exchange information, I was given FAQ’s and a phone number to call to resolve issues with the product.I understand that the cost of the calculator and shipping, coupled with buyer remorse or other reasons, is why returns and exchanges are probably not offered on these products. In this case, I was not going to call a phone number, go through automated attendants and possibly a foreign call center to try to get a resolution for a $5 calculator that was defective when it arrived to me.As Amazon didn’t offer a return or exchange option, this indicated to me that it would be a waste of my time as well.It would have been nice if a no return policy had been prominently displayed in the Amazon listing I read before making the purchase of this, as well as my $3 pocket size Casio (which has the same non return policy). In the end, I didn’t waste my time calling the number, or even take pictures for this review. The calculator went in the trash and I lost $5.Sadly, had the calculator actually worked, I think I would have been happy with it. The display was large, clear and the calculator had a good feel to it.I’ll continue to use my pocket size Casio as it is working well for me. However, if something happens to it and I know I can’t return a defective Casio pocket or wallet size calculator, I’ll look elsewhere for a replacement.

Easy to read display with no distortion. Your own little time machine!

I’m assuming that if you’re reading this, it’s because you need a basic calculator for some exam you’re about to take and they won’t allow a calculator that can do anything more than a few basic things. Well, this calculator will work just fine for that. I took it in for an FAA test, and they were more than happy with this simple basic calculator. It also worked well with the ambient light in the testing center.A nice bonus is that this calculator comes with a vinyl hard backed cover. It attaches itself to the calculator with the included adhesive strip and voila, now you have what looks like a little book, except it’s a calculator, fool! Also, this calculator will transport you back in time to 1989, which was the last time I owned something like this. I had no idea people were still manufacturing these things.A few things that I liked:* The display is easy to read and clear – At first I was wondering if I wanted the calculator that had 10 digit display. The downside of that is they make the numbers quite narrow to cram in 10 digits in a space that should ideally hold 8. I actually ordered both and returned the one that displayed 10. The numbers were too distorted and I was afraid that I was going to misread the screen and get an answer wrong.* The calculator has an OFF button. And also will go into auto off mode after about 8 minutes of being left alone.* It’s nice to physically press a button vs the virtual buttons on my calculator app on my phone. I’ve started to use this calculator at home for other things instead of reaching for my phone.* The calculator is lightweight and thin. If you’re a total nerd, you’ll get excited that this will fit into your shirt pocket.A couple weird things:* The comma to separate out the thousands and the millions are in the upper part of the screen. It must be a Japanese thing or something. Instead of 12,345,678 the calculator will display 12’345’678. I’m not sure how much that will bug you, but it doesn’t settle all that well with my inner OCD.* The cover also opens backwards, with the seam on the right side instead of the left. Again, just a weird quirk.

Excellent basic calculator for school or office use.

I purchased several of these calculators for my kids to use at school and to have around the house in case I needed to calculate something. Yes, smartphones or computers have a calculator app, but sometimes having a physical calculator is handy. These calculators are inexpensive, have the standard, basic functionality one expects (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and a simple memory). The box includes a handy little flip cover to protect the calculator in a pocket or backpack. No manual is included, since its functionality is very basic.Calculations are quick and accurate, the buttons are comfortable to push, the screen is clear and bright (contrast is non-adjustable and there is no backlight), and the built-in solar panel and replaceable battery provide ample power for years of operation.

    Great little calculator

I like to take occasional breaks from exclusively using my iPhone for every little thing. I use a calculator almost everyday, so I needed something inexpensive and simple to use as an alternative. This CASIO calculator is exactly what I wanted. I stash it in my desk drawer so it’s easy to grab during the workday. I appreciate the size and easy to read numbers. It’s very convenient.

THE CASIO SL-300SV CALCULATOR IS A NEAT AND NIFTY LITTLE MACHINE FROM CASIO. It has so many of my own “most desired”, features, (many of which were more common in older calculators), that I wish it had them all!It is small enough to fit in your hand, and comes with a vinyl wallet, reminiscent of the leather or leatherette wallets that many calculatorshad in years passed. This wallet comes UNattached to the calculator,so that the user can attach it any way he or she likes — an especiallygood feature if you are left handed, or wish the wallet to open with the calculator on the right side. (There is, however, only one “pocket” in the inner side of the wallet…so if you do attach the calculator so that the wallet opens with the calculator on the right side, the “pocket” will be hidden and slightly more hidden…which can be an advantage, if you want to keep things in you calculator wallet pocket even more secret and out of reach!)This 8 digit calculator has my preferred “picture-frame” numberic display at the top. I prefer the indented “picture-frame” numeric display to the seemingly more common, “wrap-around windshield” numeric display in many other calculators, because it somehow looks better to me — and, more importantly, the “picture-frame” display seems to show numbers darker than the “wrap-around windshield” design numberic display. The display is bright – brighter than many other pocket calculators — and has nice, large, dark numbers. Still, the display is not QUITE as bright as is pictured in the illustration. This is not unusual, as I have yet to find ANY calculator with as bright a display as is shown in a commerical illustration. However, this calculator’s happily really bright display does come close! It has a sign-change key, a per-cent key….and an OFF key! This “OFF” key can save a great deal of battery use — and it’s really needed here.More and more calculators today are, (sadly for the customer), designed to have their batteriss changed ONLY by an “authorized dealer” — much like watch batteries are. This is also the case here — the wonderful, but now old-style “off” key, (happily making a “come-back” on more and more calculators!), is on this calculator, (too!) Now, if they’d just add replaceable batteries to the newest calculators, as they did when pocket calculators had their start! I hope this happens….but at least this Casio SL-300SV DOES have an “off” key….and that certainly is a big step in the right direction! Also, this calculator stays “on” for approximately 7 minutes and 10 seconds, before turning off automatically. Together with the “off” key, this l.o.n.g… time between keying in the last digit and automatic turn-off adds greatly to the usability of this calculator! Thanks, Casio!(Nostalagia section…sigh!) Remember a time when watches ran mechanically and had no batteries? And calculators ran on “AA” batteries that could easily be changed by customers? Or, later, lithium-battery powered calculators where the lithium battery was in a nice little compartment with a slide-in, slide-out lid? Now, “planned obscelesence” has taken the place of inventiveness and value in customer-service…and we “customers” ourselves have been called “consumers”….as if we were little piggies in a pen, “consuming” foodstuffs to be fattened up for market. Ulgh! Give me the good old days of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s! Almost as bad as these new expenses is the fact that younger people donn’t even know these things ever existed, outside of studying them in history books. When I told my nephew about gas service-stations that nnt only had other people to pump gas, but who also cleaned one’s windshields, restaurants which served water without its being asked for, and other conveniences I had witessed as a child, he asked me, “What planet are you from?” To which I had to reply, “The planet of the 1960s!”…Back to the 21st century….. Anyway, alog with the “off” key on this calculator, and the l.o.n.g… approximately 7 minute and 10 second time before automatic turn-off, there is also the more-modern solar battery panel…which further lengthens the life of this nice little calculator. Without user-replaceable batteries, however, the calculator will probably not last more than 7-10 years, (my own estimate), at which time, either a personal trip to, or sending the calculator in by mail to, an “authorized dealer” in person, will be necessary for a battery change. Of course, considering the cost of these things, (especially 7-10 years hence), it will probably be in the customer’s financial interest just to buy a new calculator. This is what all calculator manufacturers seem to want, now — but I’m very grateful for that “off” key in this Casio model, and the fact that the “off” key, once a normal feature on every calculator, seems to be making a comeback on other calcultors, as well! There is a “square root” key on this calculator — but no “percent” key. This is OK with me, as for a long time, I’ve felt that the “percent” key was somewhat of a superfluous one. To find percentages, after all, is a simple operation on any calculator — even without a percent key. (To find, for example, 15% of 250, all one needs to do is press “.15” x “250”. Then press “=”. Voila — the answer is: “37.5”. To find out what percent 37.50 is of 250, all one need do is press “37.5” “./.” (the “divided by” key) “250”….to get the result of “.15”. So, I don’t really miss the “extra” percentage key here, and one less key makes for an easier-to-use keyboard! The “face-plate” of this calculator is in very pleasing light-grey plastic. Or is it metal? I can’t really tell…but it does reflect the light. In any event, the light grey gives a nice, “finished” sheen to the faceplate, and also gives a more relaxed and happy “look” to the calculator, as a darker colour, (black or brown), would not.The keyboard here is very slightly crowded, and does take some getting used to. But not much. The somewhat-too-small key are slightly convex, (rounded), rather tha slightly concave, (indented), and this adds, again VERY slightly, to difficulty in using the keyboard. However, this inconvience is very, very slight — and the “off” key, the big, “picture frame” display, and the included wallet make this getting used to the very slightly, (and I do mean VERY slightly), cramped keyboard definitely worth it.Slightly larger than a “mini” calculator, but still easily carried in pocket or purse, with a solar battery, a lithium battery, a nice little wallet, and a very welcome “off” key, this is definitely a calculator worth considering purchase — for home, school, or office!

    None Better

I’ve used the smaller HS-8V and HS-8VA for at least a dozen years. They are the best basic calculators. If they have any drawback, it’s size. They are small; keys are not for the ham-handed. Display is not best for the visually challenged. The SL-300SV solves the problems — and adds a welcome “OFF” button. A permanent fixture on my desk!

    Great basic calculator

I wanted a larger calculator with only basic functions (some Casio calculators have funky buttons that I have no use for.) I bought this calculator, and although it has all of the basic functions that I need, it’s much smaller than I expected. If you’re okay with a smaller basic calculator, the price is great on this one.

    Nice small size calculator

This is a nice easy-to-use calculator. I have not had it for a long time so I can not advise on durability. I wanted something small to carry in my purse but found this one to be too big I was going to return it and try to find one smaller but you really can’t return it. The way it is set up you are directed to the seller and I knew that was going to be a real pain to try. If you want a small one for home use this should work but if you want one to carry in a purse this may not be a good one to choose.

You get what you pay for

It does the job, but the case is cheap and keeps folding over the calculator when I’m trying to use it. Keys are a bit small – next time I’ll go for a bigger model. I thought it would be better than my phone, but was mistaken. (Had to snap the picture quickly before the cover closed 😉 )
