    Some issues with sturdiness

    I’ve bought this hoop set twice. I really like it, but the 4 inch hoop has broken on me both times. Great size, super cute. Maybe I’m just having bad luck?

    really useful for working on item that is not circular

    These have been working well and it is great to have a range of sizes!We have been using them for more than simple embroidery; they are useful for holding fabric steady for any reason including painting or piecing on a patch.

    Hard to use

    I bought these to use for applique work, it’s very difficult to get the material on the hoop because they’re made with a very deep, fitted groove. I suppose they would work better for holding a completed work, but they are not for using material that needs to be moved often.

    Solid!

    I initially found it hard to screw the bolt back in because the nuts were falling out but I’ve got the hang of it and they hold a very taught cloth. I like the square as an alternative to holding a round hoop. Highly recommend and fun for finished pieces!

    Tricky

    The ridge on this style of embroidery hoop makes them harder to use. They’re just tricky and I don’t think I would buy them again. I like that the nut is recessed and they seem sturdy.

    a new shape for embroidery hoops

    The square shape is new and convenient when working on a large project. I have just started using these but they seem sturdy and hold the fabric as well as the wooden hoops I have used for decades. So far I am very pleased with these hoops.

    Not very sturdy

    The first time I used these hoops, they were too flimsy to work on thick fabric. The tiny bolts inside the attachment wouldn’t clasp and one fell out while I was trying to begin my project. I ended up using a zip tie to keep the hoop closed so I could start my project. And even then, the tension on the fabric wasn’t very good.Note: After I posted my review, the customer service department for this company reached out and offered a refund. They did ask me to change/delete my review in order to receive the refund. I agreed to make changes to my review after I received the refund. They then tried to add more steps–like sending them pictures of the broken items and agreeing to completely delete my review to get the refund. When I refused to do those things and threatened to report them, they gave me the refund.

    Hoops

    I have always using round hoops (for at least 59 years) and I love being able to use these squarish hoops and also your oval hoops. I wish I would have looked into them much, much sooner.

    Shape and size

    The size, shape, and thickness of hoop makes them easier to hold. It was a little difficult getting the Aida cloth taut.

    Not easy to use.

    They are well made but have a ‘ridge’ that is meant to hook the cloth and make it stable for embroidering. But what it does is make it more difficult to get the cloth to lay flat without stretching it out of shape. I have given them to my nieces who are just starting out with simple play patterns and don’t care what happens to the cloth. I would not recommend these for serious stich workers who work with thinner , more delicate cloth.

    Only work with light weight fabric

    These loops/frames will only work with light weight cross stitching fabric. And the fabric has to be soft. My project were preprinted cross stitch not the embroidery one. So the fabric is not the light weight, soft kind. I have to have someone to hold it for it and squeeze it very hard so I can put screw on.

    these are not very easy to use, the large hope came damaged and the screw did not have any thread for tightening. was very excited to try these square hoops.. very disappointed.

    Not worth it.

    I wanted to like these square hoops. I really did. But they are cumbersome to use. They take up way too much fabric due to the style of the way the smaller hoop fits in the larger hoop. Really will only work if used the way shown in pictures where the hoop is never used to cinch on top of thread. I wish someone would make a square hoop that uses the same method as the round ones. Back to round hoops I go!!!

    Not suitable for quilting

    I’m a hand quilter and was eager to try these square hoops for border quilting. Although I’m sure they would work well for finer fabrics/more delicate crafts like cross stich or embroidery, they are not robust enough to handle a quilt. The hoops don’t open far enough to accommodate 2 layers of fabric + batting. I also had trouble positioning the screws, and feel they are too short.

    Won’t close

    Had to disconnect the screw completely from the nut to get the outer loop around the inner hoop and Aida but the Aida is too thick for it to close.

    The first time you use it the material is tight, but after the first use the screw is stripped in the plastic and it doesn’t hold the materiaL.

    Great sizes–Work well

    These hoops securely hold my fabric for cross stiching and keep it nice and taut. They are lightweight, easy to hold and the rectangular shape allow you to see a bigger, area when stitching.

    Disappointed

    A little hard to get the fabric situated and to get used to the feel. Initially, I was quite satisfied. As you can see from the picture, the large hoop is cracking. I have only moved it once so it’s not from overuse. I would not buy this again.

    very hard to use

    size is good, but very hard to use. The screws are not easy to turn and it’s very hard to get them apart and put back together to adjust. I much prefer the style without ridges inside and a material that is not so hard. I’ll go back to my old wooden ones.

    Great, but…

    Just a little warning. I’m using the medium size to do a prequilted baby quilt. It’s thickness is keeping the screw from working. I’m using a rubber band. I really like the shape. It’s so much better for arthritic hands than the circle. So glad I got them!

    Tight hold

    Just didn’t work

    1st: you have to take the unit completely apart to move it. 2nd: no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get my Aida cloth to lay flat, and once in the hoop no way could I get it taunt. Loved the idea but just didn’t work for me.

    Screw strips out the plastic

    The plastic was so soft that the screw stripped it out the first time I tried using one. Disappointed, I was hoping the plastic would be stronger than the wooden ones.

    Not worth $

    I got these hoping they would make ut easier to do larger projects. Large holder broke within a few days of using it. As I hadnt started my project until after the return window, I had to keep it. Dont recommend you waste your money on these.
